Born and raised in the beautiful Yakima Valley of Washington in 1962, artist Shawn discovered his love of art at the tender age of eight.

In his youth, Shawn spent many hours exploring and sketching the wine producing valley and nearby mountains where he was raised.

A self-taught artist, Shawn later honed his talent during his teens, finalizing his training in his college years. In 1979 he completed his Associates of Arts Degree through the Minneapolis Art Institute. In 1981- 1984 Bellevue Community College on an art scholarship. From 1986 - 1988, Shawn achieved his Bachelor's Degree's at the Minnesota State University - Mankato.

While living in Minnesota, Shawn established himself locally as an artist, working mainly in portraits, landscapes and paintings of fine homes.

His passion is working with pastels, but Shawn is also quite adept at charcoal drawings and oil paintings. While he prefers to work plein-air (live & in person) he has created many fine works from photographs.

Currently living again in Selah, Shawn is working hard to re-establish himself as a commissioned artist, so that he can work at home, allowing him time for his nine year old daughter Shy'Anne.

When not busy painting or sketching, most of Shawn's time is spent with his daughter, helping her develop her own natural, artistic talent.

In the not-too-distant future, he hopes to teach classes in pastel technique, including both portraits and landscapes (plein-air and otherwise). Shawn is working hard towards making his art classes become a reality
